There was pandemonium in Ofuluonu, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, when a suspected Yahoo boy, Chidiebere Mbah, blocked a major road with his N7 million SUV, pelted police, and eluded capture.
According to a police source, Mbah was observed in his SUV with tinted glass on Monday, and when officers on patrol stopped him to ask why he had just one number plate on his car, he sped away, disputing the authorities’ decision to question him.
According to a senior police officer who requested anonymity, instead of helping with the police in their inquiry, he began raising the alarm, attracting locals who were at their houses observing the normal sit-at-home on Mondays.
When police attempted to apprehend him, the guy blocked the major Ofuluonu road with his SUV and pelted the officers before fleeing into the crowd.
The police source stated that the vehicle was brought to the Nsukka Police Division where the suspect later showed up and claimed that the vehicle belonged to his mother, who Vanguard learned sells bitter kola on the street along Ofuluonu road in Nsukka.
All attempts to reach Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, remained unsuccessful because he did not answer calls or texts sent to his phone number.
The suspect has been arrested and now helping the police in their investigations.
