Sowore Tells Vice President to Resign Over Presidential Ambition.

The presidential candidate running on the African Action Congress (AAC) platform was responding to President Muhammadu Buhari’s request that all members of his government pursuing elected office quit by May 16.

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, has called Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to resign.

The presidential candidate running on the African Action Congress (AAC) platform was responding to President Muhammadu Buhari’s request that all members of his government pursuing elected office quit by May 16.

Though the instruction does not include the Vice President because he is an elected member of the government, Sowore has requested him to resign as well so that all contenders have an equal playing field.

“It is excellent that mannequin @Mbuhari has requested his uninspiring ministers running elections to quit,” he tweeted. “However, it is equally fair and ethical that Chief Coward @ProfOsinbajo resign as well so that there is a level playing field for all aspirants.”

“As for @MBuhari, my stance is unassailable, #BuhariMustGo @MBuhari is useless!” ‪#WeCantContinueLikeThis.”

Buhari had earlier in the day mandated that all members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) contesting for elected posts submit letters of resignation by Monday, May 16, 2022.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation; Chris Nigige, Minister of Labour and Productivity; Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs; Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology; and Timipre Sylva, Minister of Petroleum Resources, are among those impacted (APC).

Others include Attorney General of the Federation Mallam Abubakar Malami, who has expressed interest in becoming governor of his native state of Kebbi.

Uche Ogar, the Minister of State Mines and Steel, is running for governor of Abia State, while Pauline Tallen, the Minister of Women Affairs, has expressed her intention to run for senator of Plateau State.

Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, is also said to be interested in running for governor of Gombe State.

Sunday Dare, his colleague in the Youth and Sports Development Ministry, has also acquired the N50 million APC nomination forms to succeed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 gubernatorial elections.

Though not a cabinet member, SaharaReporters has learned that Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), may be affected by the presidential directive.
