In a school shooting in Russia on Monday, nine people were killed, including five children. The shooter then killed himself, according to Russian officials.
The shooting took place in Izhevsk, the capital of the Udmurtia region, which is located about 970 kilometers (600 miles) east of Moscow.
The interior ministry’s Udmurtia branch reported that authorities found the shooter’s body at the location.
The perpetrator, according to Russia’s Investigative Committee, killed nine people before taking his own life.
The victims included five children, two teachers and two security guards, it said.
Russia has seen several school shootings in recent years.
Seven children and two adults were slain in Kazan by a teenage gunman in May 2021.
At a kindergarten in the center of the Ulyanovsk area in April 2022, an armed man killed two kids and a teacher before killing himself.
