Honorary degrees are becoming more popular among Nigerian celebrities; four Nigerian celebrities have received honorary doctorate degrees this year alone, in addition to others who have previously received them.

This honorary degree is conferred in order for the university or college to waive or forego all degree requirements such as attendance, examination, matriculation course credit, and so on. That is, recipients of this degree are exempt from all of the inconveniences associated with the degree program.

This degree is bestowed upon prominent individuals to recognize their greatness, commitment to society, and lifetime success. Unfortunately, because this is an honorary degree that cannot be used to obtain employment, it has no real-world application.

Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian singer, was recently conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree by her alma school, the University of Kent in the United Kingdom.
