Nigeria Super Eagles will play 2016 European champions Portugal in an international friendly in September.
Muhammad Sanusi, Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, revealed this.
During the FIFA international break, the three-time African champions were supposed to play Guinea Bissau in a double-header Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
However, with the Confederation of African Football postponing the qualifiers until March 2023, the NFF is hard at work organizing a grade A friendly for the Eagles.
According to Sanusi, preparations for the friendly match between Nigeria and Portugal are well underway.
Nigeria and Portugal will meet for the first time at the senior level, despite the fact that they met three times at the U-20 World Cup, with Portugal winning all three meetings (twice in 1989 and 2013).
Cristiano Ronaldo and his team are in the same group as Ghana, who beat Nigeria to the World Cup ticket after a 1-1 draw in March at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja.
