Nigeria defeated Cameroon to qualify for the World Cup.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated Cameroon 1-0 in their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match in Casablanca on Thursday night.

Rasheedat Ajibade of Nigeria scored in the 56th minute to bring her tally in the competition to three.

Nigeria qualified for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year with the victory.

All four teams that reach the semi-finals of the ongoing continental championship in Morocco will receive automatic tickets to the Women’s World Cup, with the fifth-placed team given another chance at a Playoff Tournament next year.

Cameroon

A 1-2 loss to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in their first Group C match last week Monday dimmed the Super Falcons’ shine, but they rose to the occasion and won their next two matches with six points and six goals advantage, propelling them to the last eight.
