According to a recent epidemiological report by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria recorded 36 new confirmed cases of monkeypox in one week, between August 22 and August 28, 2022.

Six reported deaths increase the overall number of verified cases since January of this year to 277.
The extra 36 confirmed cases were reported in 14 states, including Lagos (7 cases), Abia (6 cases), Bayelsa (5 cases), Edo (3 cases), Ondo (3 cases), Delta (2 cases), Ebonyi (2 cases), Rivers (2 cases), Anambra (1 case), Benue (1 case), Gombe (1 case), Imo (1 case), Katsina (1 case), and Oyo (one).
