I was dead as* down, insecure, scared, depressed, and losing my mind like. I was literally gonna kill myself – Omah Lay React to his breakup

Stanley Omah, popularly known as Omah Lay, a Nigerian singer, has spoken out about his battle with depression while recording his debut album, Boy Alone.

In a series of tweets on Monday, the Infinity crooner revealed that he was emotionally struggling and considered suicide before releasing the aforementioned album in June.

Omah Lay made his ex-girlfriend, Gloria, his Instagram official in September 2021. Following rumors of her cheating, the couple split up shortly after.

Omah revealed on Twitter that his ex served him “breakfast” (a slang term for heartbreak) and nearly drove him insane.

He wrote, “I wanna spill my heart on this app like this. Boy Alone might be the last time y’all will hear me cry on a song, On G, I was dead as* down, insecure, scared, depressed, and losing my mind like. I was literally gonna kill myself.

“People I used to look up to stopped showing me love, I looked people in the eye and saw doubt, disrespect and hate. I lost myself, maybe I was just overthinking, I don’t know.

“My babe served me ‘breakfast’ at midnight. I wanted to go crazy.”

After recording and listening to the album, the artiste said he regained his confidence, and realised that he is one of Africa’s best artistes.

“I felt like I lost it until after I finished recording Boy Alone. I listened to myself and realized I’m one of the hardest sh*ttt African music has ever seen!!,” he wrote.
